Twentieth Century Fox Film
Corporation (colloquial: Twentieth Century Fox; Fox; 20th Century Fox) is an American film
studio currently owned by 21st Century Fox. One of
the "Big
Six" major American film studios, it was
formed from the merger of the Fox
Film Corporation and Twentieth Century Pictures in
1935, and is located in the Century City area
of Los
Angeles.
From 1935 to 1971 (except for 1956–61), Zanuck was
head of production for the studio. In the late 1930s and ’40s Twentieth
Century–Fox produced mainly westerns, musicals,
screen biographies, and religious epics. Among its early efforts were several
of director John
Ford’s best-known films, notably The
Grapes of Wrath
